The Queen, this afternoon, received The Right Honourable Boris Johnson MP in an Audience and requested him to form a new Administration. The Queen also received The Right Honourable Theresa May MP who tendered her resignation as Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury. Her Majesty was graciously pleased to accept the resignation.

Tomorrow, The Queen will arrive in Scotland for #HolyroodWeek2019! Holyrood Week, or ‘Royal Week’, takes place each Summer at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh. Her Majesty will meet Scots from across the country throughout the week. Engagements will include the annual Garden Party and Investiture ceremony.
Today The Countess of Wessex visited the Royal Norfolk Show, the annual showcase of the county’s farming, food and countryside. As #norfolkshow President this year, Her Royal Highness met children from Sparhawk Infant and Nursery school – 1 of 6 schools taking part in the ‘Learn about livestock’ project with the Food and Farming Discovery Trust. Earlier this week The Queen, and members of the Royal Family attended the annual Garter Day service, celebrating the oldest and most senior Order of Chivalry in Britain. The King and Queen of Spain and The King and Queen of the Netherlands also attended this year’s Garter Day, during which The Kings were installed in St. George’s Chapel as Supernumerary, or ‘Stranger’, Knights of the Garter. New appointments to "The Garter" were invested in the Garter Throne Room and include a Lady Companion, athlete Lady Mary Peters, and a Knight Companion, the Marquess of Salisbury, a former Chairman of the Thames Diamond Jubilee Foundation. #OTD in 1837, Queen Victoria ascended to the throne at the age of 18. This painting by Henry Tanworth Wells from the @RCT shows the moment Queen Victoria learnt of her accession. Her reign lasted until 22 January 1901 and was known as the Victorian Era. Queen Victoria and her husband Prince Albert produced nine children between 1840 and 1857. The Duchess of Cambridge, Patron of Action on Addiction, made a speech at the first annual gala dinner in recognition of #AddictionAwarenessWeek last night. Before the dinner, The Duchess of Cambridge met former Action on Addiction clients Jay Otty and Melanie Bennett, who worked to prepare food for the gala dinner. D-Day exemplifies the importance of collaboration across societies and nations and demonstrates why we “Remember together”. The music is this film is “The Shores of Normandy” recorded by D-Day veteran Jim Redford. Jim served the Merchant Navy on the Empire Larch, at the age of just 15.

An Audience is a one-to-one meeting with The Queen and happen regularly throughout Her Majesty's working week. Tomorrow the President of the United States of America, President Donald J Trump and the First Lady, Mrs Melania Trump will pay a State Visit to the UK. State visits, both outward and incoming, play an integral role in strengthening Britain's relationships with countries across the world. The Queen hosted President Trump and Mrs Trump for tea at Windsor Castle last July. Over the course of her reign, The Queen has met twelve US Presidents. Today The Duke of Sussex attended the opening match of the @ICC Cricket World which featured England vs South Africa. The ICC Cricket World Cup, which takes place from 30th May to 14th July, is being hosted by England and Wales features the world’s top ten teams, nine of whom are from the Commonwealth.
